There Are Two Sides To The Story
October is all about celebrating black cats because #BlackCatAwarenessMonth falls on this month. Misleading myths about black cats are commonplace. Many of us have probably heard rumours that black cats bring bad luck or are associated with wicked witches. But have you heard of the other side of the story?
In fact, there’re numerous paw-sitive folklores centred around black cats too! Did you know that in Ancient Egypt, people worshipped black cats? Bastet— an Egyptian female god with the head of a black cat– was said to protect homes from evil spirits and diseases. Furthermore, in Japan, legend has it that you’ll have luck in finding your true love whenever you meet a black kitty. Black cats help hoomans to find their purrfect match! Irelanders too are joyous when they cross paths with the Lucky Black Bog Cat, a legendary black kitty who brings fortune, wealth and happiness to those lucky enough to run into it.
This #BlackCatAwarenessMonth, take time to know the black kitties around you. You’ll probably fall in love with them because black cats are typically just as sweet and affectionate as cats of other colours.
