Working from home with cats
Although the Circuit Breaker measures in Singapore are expected to ease up, there is still no confirmation of the end in sight.
While most of us can be thankful to still have a job, working from home may not be the most efficient arrangement for some. The tightened measures see more people going from office-team-rotation to work-from-home until further notice from the government, forcing many cat owners to face the adorable faces of their furry companions every single day, yet “my cat refused to move from my keyboard” excuse will never be a valid reason for missing your deadlines.
It’s hard to explain that even though you are home a lot more often, you still have to work. Besides, you probably won’t want to send the wrong signals by constantly pushing your cat away and ignoring their pleas for attention.
5 HANDS-OFF WAYS TO ENTERTAIN YOUR CAT
1. Create a perch by the window
Cats love a view of the outside world -- whether it’s watching people, other animals, or vehicles. To provide your feline friend with more entertainment, you can consider installing a bird feeder outside your window to attract more birds. Remember to keep your curtains open for a full view, and cat-proof your windows so your cat won’t fall out by accident!
Apart from that, our comfy Cat Hammock also provides your cat a perfect safe spot to view her kingdom and outside world all at once. Using suction cups, this kitty ledge mounts securely to any window & can hold up to 20kgs!
2. Turn on the TV with volume
Like humans, cats will sit by the TV screen if it’s playing something they are interested in. We will probably get bored with videos of birds and mice running around, but that is not the case for our feline friends. There are also multiple reports confirming that cats are interested in cat videos that the internet is still obsessed with! Be sure to find out the type of videos your kitty is interested in before leaving her alone with it.
3. Paper Bags and Cardboard Boxes
If you are willing to risk clearing paper bits in every corner of your house upon emerging from your room after a day’s work, feel free to try this low-cost entertainment for your cat. However, cats have preference in their favourite material to pounce around with; for example, some prefer plastic or cloth. Experiment with what she likes, but remember not to leave her unattended with materials that could possibly cause more harm than good (e.g. getting trapped in plastic bags)!
4. Offer Your Scent
Let your cat have an article of clothing or a cushion that you have used. Your items will have your scent on it, and it gives your cat a choice to sleep with it to still feel close to you while you are working away in the next room.
5. Get cat furniture!
Cat furniture goes beyond beds, scratching posts, and scratching mats. Cat trees are especially useful and versatile in keeping your feline friends occupied while you are busy. Cat trees often come with a scratching posts, resting perches, and a safe hideaway can keep your cats happy and engaged for hours.
Our Lavish Cactus Cat Tree with Hut definitely fits the bill as it combines unique style with practicability to make the most pawsome kitty playground!
